GUBBIO – The Gubbio Summer Festival was presented today with a press conference introduced by the Mayor of Gubbio Filippo Stirati, the councillor with delegation to culture Augusto Ancillotti and the artistic director of the Festival Katia Ghigi.

The Major highlighted that this is a traditional event of the summer of Gubbio, an important musical event with great guests. This is a symbol of the continuity of the development of culture in our town. The municipality want to be a point of reference in this field. The biggest challenge is to focus the efforts in a lot of events and everybody must have the awareness of this.

He also appreciate the programme of the Festival which join great musicians and youths who can have the chance to express their talent. At the end of his speech he invites all the music world and a lot of youths to participate and give great prestige to this event.

The councillor Augusto Ancillotti affirmed that it is not obvious that this Festival has reached the 27th edition and has so many artists and members. The main reasons of this success are the credibility and the ability to invite great guests. At the end, he said that this Festival is part of a cultural soundtrack that I have always imagined for Gubbio.

At the end, the artistic director of the Festival Katia Ghigi has exalted, also with concrete data, the success of the event. Firstly she thanks the few sponsor which allowed the course of the Festival. In this Festival, a remarkable aspect is that, despite a period of crisis, there are less investments and more members because the level of the teachers of the masterclass is very high and we have to close 5 classes in advance due to the large number of members.

Giving some number, we can say that there will be 24 classes with world-class teachers. The members are almost 200 and they come from all over the world: for the first time there will be some members who come from Turkey and Malta. The biggest news is the course of oboe.

The programme plans 18 concerts of 1 hour approximately: these are very different among them as regards the kinds of music. According to her, the most important aspect is making the most with young people. In fact, there are an initiative called “Generazioni a confronto” in which, during the concerts, youths have the chance to play their instruments and to compare them with the great calibres of music. This is, of course, a stimulating comparison which produces positive things and can valorise the youths of Umbria.
