GUBBIO – Questa mattina (mercoledì 16 novembre) è stata presentata la cerimonia di accensione dell’Albero di Natale più grande del mondo, una dei simboli della città di Gubbio. Alla conferenza stampa sono intervenuti Lucio Costantini, presidente del Comitato Albero di Natale, il sindaco Filippo Mario Stirati ed il vescovo Monsignor Mario Ceccobelli.
Lucio Costantini ha spiegato alcuni dettagli della cerimonia: “La cerimonia, giunta ormai alla 36° edizione, vedrà l’associazione Save the Children accendere l’Albero e per noi è un onore averli qui. Save the Children è la più grande organizzazione internazionale che si occupa di bambini, il Natale è per i bambini, l’Albero di Natale è per i bambini e meritavano quest’occasione. Come da tradizione, consegneremo all’associazione una ceramica raffigurante gli scorci di Gubbio, prodotto dal laboratorio Aldo Fumanti.

La location della cerimonia sarà sempre in piazza Quaranta Martiri, quest’anno sarà precisamente sotto il monumento. Durante la cerimonia sarà presente, per la prima volta, il coro gospel degli amici di Mocaiana per rendere ancora più natalizia l’atmosfera. Ringrazio l’Amministrazione comunale per il supporto concreto che ci sta dando, perché, nonostante le difficoltà, forse riusciremo ad avere anche un maxi schermo per le persone che, speriamo in molte, verranno.
Con l’iniziativa ‘Adotta una luce’, molti cittadini ci stanno vicini concretamente e le adozioni vengono da tutta Italia e anche da alcuni stranieri. La stella sarà dedicata alle popolazioni terremotate ed ai volontari che lavorano in quelle zone continuamente”.
Il vescovo Mario Ceccobelli ha confermato la sua presenza alla cerimonia: “È un evento, questo, a cui non posso mancare. Ho visto dei filmati di alcuni volontari che montano la stella. È una città, la nostra, che vive di volontariato, perché ci sono dei cittadini che la amano tanto e che lavorano per Gubbio. Questo è un modo per mostrare amore per la città. Sono contento ed entusiasta per l’iniziativa, spero che ci sia un grande successo di pubblico perché se lo meritano”.

Il sindaco Filippo Stirati ha manifestato la grande importanza che ha l’evento per la città, soprattutto in un periodo difficile come questo: “Esprimo la mia profonda gratitudine al Comitato Albero di Natale per aver dato continuità ad una delle più grandi imprese, sia nel senso concreto de termine, sia dal punto di vista della geniale intuizione che ha prodotto un’opera d’arte, che nel corso dei decenni è diventato uno dei simboli più profondi della città.
L’Amministrazione fa tutto ciò che nelle sue possibilità per mettersi a disposizione, per fornire tutti i supporti e per consentire che tutto vada nel migliore dei modi. L’accensione, negli ultimi anni, è diventato un evento dal grande impatto mediatico e comunicativo a livello regionale e nazionale. Ancora una volta, è stato scelto un soggetto significativo per l’accensione, ovvero un’associazione che ha grandi meriti in materia di tutela dei bambini.
Quest’anno, l’Albero ha missione di operare una riscossa, perché la nostra Regione è ancora ferita dagli ultimi eventi sismici. Una riscossa in tutto il territorio, poiché anche la nostra città ha subito gli effetti indiretti del sisma. L’Albero è frutto della compattezza e dell’unione che anche noi dobbiamo avere in questo momento difficile. Questa cerimonia, assieme a tutte le altre iniziative che presenteremo per il Natale, devono rappresentare il riavvio della promozione turistica della nostra città”.

Presentation of the ceremony of lighting of Gubbio Christmas tree
This morning has been introduced the ceremony of lighting of the Tree of greater Christmas of the world, one of symbols of the city of Gubbio. Lucio Costantini, president of the Committee of Christmas Tree, the Mayor Filippo Mario Stirati and the bishop Mario Ceccobelli has intervened to the press conference.
Lucio Costantini has explained some details of the ceremony: “The ceremony, reaches by now the 36° edition, will see the association Save the Children to turn on the tree and for us it is a honour to have them here. Save the Children is the greatest international organization that deals it with children, Christmas is for children, the tree of Christmas is for children and they deserved this occasion to be here. As from tradition, we will deliver to the association a ceramics representing the foreshortenings of Gubbio, produced from the laboratory Aldo Fumanti.

The location of the ceremony will be always in piazza 40 Martiri, this year will precisely be under the monument. During the ceremony it will be present, for the first time, the choir gospel of the friends of Mocaiana to make the atmosphere even more Christmas. I thank the town administration for the concrete support that is giving us, because, despite the difficulties, we will perhaps succeed in also having a maxi screen for the people that, we hope in a lot, they will come.
With the initiative ‘Adopts a light’, many citizens are concretely us near and the adoptions not only come from Italy and also from some foreigners. The star will be devoted to the populations struck from the earthquake and to the volunteers that they continually work in those zones and we hope that this event can make to return the people to Gubbio“.
The bishop Mario Ceccobelli has confirmed his presence to the ceremony: “This is an event, to which I cannot miss. I have seen some tapes of some voluntaries that climb on the star. It is a city, ours, that alive of voluntary, because there are some citizens that love it so much and that they work for Gubbio. This is a way to show love for the city and for the citizens. I am happy and enthusiastic for the initiative, I hope that there will be a great success of public because if they deserve it“.

The Mayor Filippo Stirati has manifested the great importance that has the event for the city, especially in a difficult period as this: “I express my deep gratitude for the Committee of Christmas Tree to have given continuity to one of the greatest achievements, both in the concrete sense de term, both from the point of view of the genial intuition that has produced a work of art, and during the decades has become one of the deepest symbols in the city.
The administration does all that is in its possibilities to make it available, to furnish all the supports and to allow that everything goes in the best some ways. The lighting, in the last years, has become an event from the great communicative impact to regional and national level. Once more, a meaningful subject has been selected for the lighting, it is an association that it has great worth in subject of guardianship of children.

This year, the tree has mission to operate a rescue, because our Region is still hurt by the last seismic events. A rescue in the whole territory, since also our city has suffered the indirect effects of the earthquake. The tree derives from the compactness and the union that also we must have in this difficult moment.
This ceremony, together with all the other initiatives that we will introduce for Christmas, must represent the reboot of the tourist promotion of our city“.
