GUBBIO – Continua la piccola inchiesta di Cronaca Eugubina sulle festività natalizie per sapere dagli operatori turistici e dai commercianti se c’è stato turismo a Gubbio e di che tipo di turismo si può parlare, mordi e fuggi o di persone che si fermano? Ieri abbiamo intervistato due giovani proprietarie di Hotel nel centro città (Gloria Pierini e Veronica Ramacci), e la proprietaria di un agriturismo situato a Mocaiana, la signora Rossana Morganti.
Il quadro che ci hanno fornito non è certo roseo, Gloria Pierini ad esempio ha affermato che “rispetto a dicembre 2015 c’è stato un calo di presenze pari all’80%“, mentre Veronica Ramacci ha detto: “Per Capodanno abbiamo più richieste, ma lavoriamo ad intermittenza perché le prenotazioni arrivano a rilento“. Rossana Morganti: “Quest’anno né per il ponte dell’Immacolata, né per Natale, abbiamo avuto alcuna prenotazione“.
Oggi proponiamo le interviste a Piermatteo Saccucci commerciante di piazza Quaranta Martiri, a un commerciante del centro storico e a uno della parte alta della città di Gubbio. Ai signori Luigi Lungarotti e Anna Maria Pizzichelli, titolari di un’agenzia di viaggi in via Beniamino Ubaldi, che ci hanno aiutati a capire quali sono le mete preferite dagli eugubini per le vacanze di Natale 2016. Le interviste
Piermatteo Saccucci, titolare di un negozio di prodotti tipici in piazza Quaranta Martiri, ha raccontato tutte le difficoltà di questo periodo: “È stato un Natale decisamente sotto le attese, anche se in linea con le aspettative che avevamo, ovvero molto al ribasso rispetto al 2015. Speravamo in un miracolo che non è avvenuto. Abbiamo avuto pochi clienti eugubini e pochi turisti. Il giorno di Santo Stefano c’è stato un buon afflusso di gente, ma provenivano principalmente da zone limitrofe.
Purtroppo un alto afflusso di persone non significa necessariamente un alto volume d’affari e questo ci penalizza molto. Un aspetto che mi ha penalizzato è che molti clienti hanno deciso di comporre cesti natalizi con prodotti norcini, invece dei nostri, in segno di solidarietà alle popolazioni colpite dal terremoto e di conseguenza ho perso delle entrate importanti.

Il nostro rammarico più grande è che in questi giorni natalizi avevamo anche delle condizioni meteorologiche decisamente favorevoli che avrebbero portato tanto lavoro per noi. Guardando al futuro, sono molto preoccupato su come affrontare i primi tre mesi dell’anno, anche perché ormai qui, nel centro storico, ci sono molti più negozi che chiudono rispetto ai nuovi che aprono”.
Dello stesso avviso è un altro commerciante del centro storico: “È stato un Natale senza infamia e senza lode, molto inferiore alle aspettative. I regali più gettonati in queste festività natalizie sono state le maglie. La differenza sostanziale non è stata nel numero di scontrini battuti, ma nel fatto che si è trattato di scontrini più piccoli, ovvero la gente tende a comprare i capi che costano di meno.
Ciò che ho notato maggiormente è che in questi giorni ci sono stati pochi turisti in città. Onestamente, sono molto spaventato per il 2017 perché, fino ad ora, non sono state trovate soluzioni efficaci per cambiare e valorizzare il centro storico”.

Purtroppo, anche la parte alta della città ha riscontrato delle difficoltà, come ci ha confermato un commerciante di quella zona: “Di sicuro non è stato un bel Natale come negli anni passati, non si può proprio fare un paragone con il 2015. In giro ci sono sia pochi eugubini che pochi turisti.
Rispetto a diversi anni fa, dall’8 al 24 dicembre, il centro città è stato chiuso e poco comodo. Siamo penalizzati dal punto di vista logistico perché è difficile che i clienti acquistino dei cesti composti da prodotti tipici se non possono raggiungere velocemente la propria automobile.
È un peccato perché i turisti apprezzano molto la bellezza di questa città, nonostante ritengano che il traffico nel centro storico porti solo disordine. Per quanto riguarda Capodanno, spero che la situazione possa migliorare, anche se ho dei dubbi. Tuttavia sono convinto che, anche se lentamente, nel 2017 tutta la Regione Umbria possa riprendersi e ricominciare”.

Con Luigi Lungarotti e Anna Maria Pizzichelli, proprietari dell’agenzia Scrigno Viaggi, abbiamo analizzato il settore dei viaggi e delle vacanze: “Non abbiamo avuto prenotazioni per Natale o per Capodanno e a nostro avviso, per diverse ragioni: ovviamente a Natale si preferisce restare in famiglia, mentre per Capodanno la gente o ha avuto paura per le ultime vicende terroristiche, in quanto per i weekend le mete gettonate solitamente sono le capitali europee, o perché si preferisce prenotare direttamente via internet senza il nostro aiuto.
Tuttavia abbiamo avuto richieste per viaggi nei giorni antecedenti Natale o dopo Capodanno, e le mete prescelte sono i luoghi caldi come i Caraibi, l’Oceano Indiano e le crociere che sono ormai una costante. In generale, abbiamo avuto un buon 2016, con molti viaggi di gruppo con partenza da Gubbio. Dopo un 2014 disastroso, il nostro settore sta crescendo costantemente e non ci possiamo lamentare di quest’anno.
Per il 2017 le prospettive sono buone in quanto abbiamo ricevuto diverse richieste ed abbiamo già qualche conferma. È ovvio che bisogna comunque tener conto degli eventi di attualità che si potrebbero verificare da un momento all’altro e potrebbero modificare le nostre aspettative”.

A survey of traders about the period of Christmas
Piermatteo Saccucci: “It has decidedly been a Christmas under the expectations, even if in line with the expectations that we had, or very to the rebate in comparison to the 2015. We hoped in a miracle that has not happened. We have had few clients of Gubbio and few tourists. The day of Saint Stephen there has been a good influx of people, but they mainly originated from neighbouring zones. Unfortunately a tall influx of people doesn’t necessarily mean a tall volume of business and this it penalizes us a lot.
An aspect that has penalized me is that many clients have decided to compose Christmas baskets with products of Norcia, instead of ours, in sign of solidarity to the populations struck by the earthquake and accordingly I have lost the important entrances. Our greater regret is that, in these Christmas days, we decidedly had also some favourable meteorological conditions that would have brought so much job for us. Looking at the future, I am very worried on as to face the first three months of the year, also because by now here, in the historical centre, there are many more shops that they close in comparison to the new ones that open”.

To the same notice is a trader of the historical centre of Gubbio: “It has been a Christmas without infamy and without praise, very inferior to the expectations. The most bought gifts, in these Christmas festivities, have been the sweaters. The substantial difference has not been in the number of the beaten slips, but is treated of smaller slips, or people have the tendency to buy the clothes that cost less.
What I have mostly noticed it is that in these days there have been few tourists in the city. Honestly I am very frightened for 2017, because, thin to effective solutions have not now, been found for changing and to valorise the historical centre“.

Unfortunately, also the has found some difficulties, as a trader of that zone has confirmed us: “Of sure, it has not been a beautiful Christmas atall part of the citys in the past years, he cannot make just a comparison with the 2015.
There are around both few people of Gubbio and few tourists. In comparison to different years ago, from the 8 to December 24, the city centre has been closed and little comfort, we are penalized by the logistic point of view since, for instance, it is difficult that the clients purchase some baskets composed by different typical products, becausethey cannot quickly reach their own car.
It is a sin because the tourists appreciate a lot the beauty of this city, despite believes that the traffic in the historical centre brings only disorder. As it regards New Year’s eve, I hope what the situation can improve, even if I have some doubts. Nevertheless I am convinced that, even if slowly, in 2017 the whole Region Umbria can recover and to restart“.

With Luigi Lungarotti and Anna Maria Pizzichelli, owners of the agency “Casket Travels“, we have analyzed the sector of the trips: “We have not had bookings for Christmas or for New Year’s eve and to our notice, for different reasons: obviously to Christmas it is preferred to stay in family, while for New Year’s eve the people or has been afraid for the last terrorist stories, because for the weekends the favourite destinations usually are the European capitals, or because it is preferred to directly book by internet without our help.
Nevertheless, we have had required for trips in the days before or after New Year’s eve and the select destinations they are the warm places or Caribbean, Indian Ocean and the cruises that are by now a constant. In general we have had a good 2016, in which the trips of group with departure from Gubbio have prevailed. After a disastrous 2014, our sector is constantly growing and we cannot complain about there of this year.
For 2017, the perspectives are good because we have received different applications and we have already some confirmation. It is obvious that we have to take into account the events of actuality that could be verified by a moment to the other and could modify our expectations needs however“.
