GUBBIO – About 40 days miss to the beginning of the third edition of the Month of the Sport. It is a set of events organised by the association Leukos in order to bring young people close to sport activities and raise awareness among them about important topics, as it happened last year thanks to the convention on sports nutrition.
As Giancarlo Fiorucci makes clear, this event arises to make Gubbio, with the collaboration of the local institutions, a point of reference for the sport. “On September – explains Giancarlo Fiorucci – the association Leukos presents 3-4 events linked to sport as well as the other sports associations organize their events, so we have proposed the Month of the Sport to include all these initiatives. We can say that this is a collection of events open to everyone because the different sports associations, that want to organize an event, can ask the collaboration of Leukos association for the promotion material and can be inside the magazine of the Month of the Sport which collects all the sports events”.

During the Month of the Sport, the main events that the association Leukos organize or in which collaborates will be 4: this month will be unveiled on the 26th August with the “Notte Bianca dello Sport”, then the Monkey Street Boulder will take place in the district of San Martino, the Run for You, organized by Rotary Club and Gubbio Runners and finally the tournament “Spirito di Squadra”, a volleyball charity event, originated from the spontaneous union of the association in which Francesco Rampini was a member.
The Month of the Sport is not only composed by these four events, but, as Giancarlo Fiorucci has anticipated us, the presence of the judoka of Scampia has already been confirmed for an initiative.
The “Notte Bianca dello Sport” and is the event which opens the Month of the Sport and picks up ever year more and more success, just think that the last edition has seen the attendance of 20000 visitors, 80 associations involved and 2000 affiliates approximately. The event, arrived at the sixth edition, was born of the idea of improving this existent format in Italy with the objective of making this event unique in his kind.

“Unique because – as Nicolò Minelli explains – the aim is to join the chance to collect a lot of sports activities inside the suggestive historical centre of Gubbio and the chance to try actively the different disciplines. This opportunity has also been a way for the sporting associations to increase his/her own registrations: an evident example is the ping pong that has passed by 3 to 17 affiliates”.
The event has had, since the first edition, a great success which always generates increasing expectations and brings the organizers to think about new activities to insert. “Our first goal – continues Nicolò Minelli – is to confirm the show of last year, thanks to the high attendance, never reached before, both to the level of visitors and affiliates. The second goal, that we hope to reach, is to improve those data, with the idea of changing compared to last year, giving different places to the sports associations in comparison with the last edition, always taking account of the fundamental principle that is promoting sport”. They have not wanted to disclose nothing of the possible innovations of this year, even if they have in mind, as they define it, an idea “revolutionary and never sight before“.
This showcase for the sporting activities doesn’t only involve the habitants of Gubbio, but a 20% of visitors also come from out.

We talk about the event “Spirito di Squadra” with Luigi Rosetti. This is an event, originated fron the union of the associations in which Francesco Rampini participated: Leukos, Pallavolo Gubbio, Baracca Party, Circolo ‘99 e Famiglia dei Santantoniari, that gives the profits to charity works yet to be defined. This year the event, which will take place in the second half of September, will be different: it won’t be a four team competition, but an exhibition game which will see the Sir Safety Perugia that lines up players of the calibre of Aleksandar Atanasijevic, Ivan Zaytsev, Marko Podrascanin, Luciano De Cecco against an international team that will be formalized shortly.
We will just have to wait the 26th August and let’s prepare us to a great month of sport in our city!
